Dr. Warren Tewes, the forensic odontologist (dentist) in the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, helps to identify over 40,000 unidentified human remains stored in the medical examiners/coroners offices across the USA. He compares antemortem (before death) dental x-rays and treatment notes to postmortem photographs, x-rays, and examination reports. Using FBI and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) computer databases, he moves the process of elimination and exclusion forward, narrowing the pool of possible dental matches to a single resolve.
